A conversation many companies and this particular person would not like to see made public

Without any additional introduction and without modifications, spare some cuts from standard email signatures and email masking, here's an exchange I had today:

Subject: Coppell TV Repair. Contact us

Hi. I was wondering if you could be kind enough to tell me which component normally fail on this board:REPAIR SERVICE FOR DP50749 / P50749-01 SANYO MAIN BOARD J4FF . I am great at soldering but have no idea how to test a main board. Would be very helpful if you could just tell me the parts locations to change out.
Thanks,
Ben Brown

No, we would not be kind enough to do that.

Part of the reason is that I often stay until about 11 PM at the shop and often work the weekends so that I can find what fails on a board that is hard to find or expensive.

There is no reason whatsoever to diminish the value of what I find out by sharing it with others.

I do not consider this rude in any way.

It is simply not logical to erase the value of hard earned knowledge before at the very least it pays for itself.

Best regards,
....

People like me will not pay for your service at $90 for 10 minutes of work. I know how simple it is. I can simply set in the garage and wait to discover the issue or for a match with a broken screen. Or I'm sure I can just use the panel in a panasonic. I like to experiment with these things and make frankenstiens. I have been making LED edge lit TV's for 8 years now with ccfl TV's.
I'm glad to hear your not into helping your fellow man but I try to post every fix I figure out. You should check out Norcal on youtube. You could take a lesson from that fine man right there!

I understand that the people that are going to pay for TV repair are the ones that are scared out of their panties to open up a TV. Guys like me will do what it takes not to pay. I will stay up late at night as well, researching the issue I need. Eventually I will figure it out for free.

Thank you sir.

Do you really think you are telling me something I do not already know? 

If I had a penny for every request like yours I wouldn’t need to stay late at all.

The way things are you are not really a “fellow man”.

The difference being I do stay late and figure out things and you are trying to get them for free.

When you do figure it out – which will ultimately happen, of course – and you share it with others you are a step closer to being a fellow man.

Which reminds me – I have a blog where I share, selectively, of course, things with others.

I also fix some of the stuff people send to Norcal on YouTube. You can quote me on that if you wish :-)

What is your blog?

And when you start feeding your family with the results of staying late then you can call yourself a fellow man.

And even then you have no moral right whatsoever to criticize someone who doesn’t do what you want them to do.

But of course you wouldn’t be criticizing them if you were in their shoes.

I would be more than happy to hit a link on your website for $10 for parts locations for the diy. Don't you get it? We would pay, just not $90. That's asinine! I would rather buy the whole board and forget about if I am going to pay that much. Why would I want to wait a few month for you to finally get to my board to fix it when I can just get overnight shipping on the new board and then don't have to listen to you tell me my board was damaged in shipping or something when it comes back not working.

SO. Only 1volt going to the audio side of my main. Runs great with 13volts going to it! 8 pin IC is bad. "thanks norcal".

You fail. I am just a man who is cripple from a 3 story fall. I fix TV's and sell them to feed my kids.

Thank you for showing me tour true colors.

BTW: I am trying to find out how to get a $ tip to norcal. I have never met the man but have a TON of respect for the guy.

Have a wonderful life sir.

Again you are not telling me anything I do not know…or which, to that extent, has not been known publicly already :-)
As much as you want, for some reason, for us to fail, we have not.

First because we are still in business and second because you are, in fact, simply not aware of how little you know on the subject :-)

Exactly. So you wasted your time to respond to me like a child when you could have just said which fucking IC was bad. You're a dumbfuck. I see you begging for work in all the forums. You pop in on a subject and don't even read what's going on and offer your outrageously priced repair.

BTW I have no problem whatsoever with you starting to offer the repair for less.

eBay is a good starting place.

You’ll be competing there with another guy who thinks the same way, but at least you’ll be spared from having to compete with us.

I again wish for a penny for everyone I’ve seen come and go trying to compete in the last 5 years…

You are the only one that sees this as a competition. I am no threat to you. There are more than enough TV's and customers to go around. I will never take one of your customers because I am nowhere near you and could care less to do repairs on ebay. That's too much work. I don't do repairs for people. I pick up problem TV's for FREE and repair them for usually 30 cents then sell the TV for full price. Doing repairs for people would be a waste of my time.

You fail as a human being. Instead of offering someone a helping hand you prefer to stomp on them. I am forwarding your messages to every media outlet I can find. Hey maybe you'll get some free advertising out of it. People love to tear apart inhumane people these days. Don't you get it? Its not cool being a prick these days.

I would like to think that I am open to feedback on how am I doing as a human being from a wide range of people.

Of course one needs to be watchful on how they take input because , without a doubt, they would often get trashed by people just upset that life isn’t going their way, or are in a period and what not.

One type I’ve learned to ignore is people who can do something by themselves, and – as it turns out – not with much of an effort – but would instead expect to get it from me , by all means at no cost.

I raise my children to not ask others for something they can do on their own with a little effort and , by that scale I do not consider it rude or unethical to treat others the same way.

If I am failing as a human it will come back at me when my children raise, don’t you worry about it.

Until then I think it was only fair that you found what you could have found on your own; as I said it is not all that is usually needed, but it’s a first step.

I did not take you as a competition. Nobody who asks for those things is really a considerable competition.

Competitions are people who , like me, figure out those things and try to make living out of them.

But I’ve long stopped worrying about them either if only because there is really nothing to do about it other than what I already do – work and work 

Sorry to hear about your accident. It would be fair to note that we all , sooner or later, face a similar challenge in our lives. Hope you get out well. Sounds like you already are, so that’s great!

Sorry if my first response sounded rude too. It wasn’t meant to be and it states it explicitly. I still stand by all I said in it.

Good luck in your future searches for decent human beings…I understand I do not  fall into this category in your book, as well as in another 1.2% of all reviewers on eBay.

I guess I have to live with that.

The thing about ebay is most people on there hit the feedback button before they ever actually receive or test the item and then can't retract their feedback when they get screwed. Just remember that it only takes 1 percent to control the worlds wealth. so what are the possibilities of one percent? Endless!

You just can't stop yourself from being condescending. Everything you say is just to try to prove that you are better than me.

You are , very clearly, talking about something you do not have even minimal experience with.

Now THAT would be a waste of time to try and correct.

All I can do is to point out the fact to you and recommend a remedy: get on eBay, sell 100 or, better yet, 1000 items and then we can talk again.

Until then it is just another proof that I should not take your opinions too seriously.

You tend to make bold statements not based on actual facts.

I can't believe you write your ignorance directly onto your website.
You are mentally unstable.
I love all the reviews you write about yourself pretending to be a customer.
You really believe that everyone other than yourself is completely stupid.
When all the reviews from all customers say "Bobby and the team" did this and that.
Reviewers don't write like that and your Napoleon complex comes out in all of them.
So your shop is inside a grocery store? I just drove down there and got gas next to your grocery store.

Hehehe, you don’t mind me putting all this correspondence on the blog, do you?

My shop is inside a 7000 sqft building which can be seen via Google Maps and which I own, which can be also verified if you know how to navigate government records online.

But I suppose that’s just “too hard” for you, just as working on eBay is (just quoting you).

Believe whatever makes you happy :-)

I suppose you can easily believe most people on eBay write positive reviews :-)

And you can believe I am also 45 different people on Google :-)

Whatever makes you happy, man… :-)

I just have to say that you are absolutely moronic for not dealing with DLP TV's as well.

That's why you haven't sold a TV for over a grand.

I just sold a 82" mitsubishi diamond for $1300 last week.

I picked it up for $30 with a blown bulb. repairing boards for people is a waste of time and effort.

You are a waste of space on this earth. Have fun reading your blog over and over because you are the only one reading it.

I have proven today that you are not a busy man.

Well from the sound of it you have been reading my blog lately 

And something tells me you will read it again one of the coming days …just to make sure I really did put everything as it was.

Based on all you said I really wish we can meet in court.

But I know we won’t and I know this is actually in your own best interest.

My recommendation is to just leave it at that 

You are hilarious! I haven't laughed this hard for a while now. Thank you! You are doing repairs from your kitchen. You are having boards sent to a grocery store.. "Bobby and the team" there is no team! There is no wife! Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Had to go pick up a 60" samsung ad replace 5 capacitors. There's another $600 for me!

Well I am glad I am helping you relax…as I said whatever makes you happy.

When you get to write a blog with information for others and a few thousand reviews on eBay or elsewhere (you can write them on your own, it’s OK by me as long as they are several thousands) drop me a note and I’ll sure take back the favor and have some fun.

Until then…keep on convincing yourself of whatever makes you happy and don’t let the facts disturb you 

There are no facts. Every time I read something new on your blog I realize even more how much of an idiot you are. You are proud of yourself for finding a crack in a board after hours and hours of wasting your time checking things that were irrelevant to what you were looking for. Most component level repairs are a waste of time when it's more economical to throw in a new $30 board instead of wasting a day testing. I don't know about you but my time is worth about $131 an hour.

Your theme song is "I'm awesome" by spose. Only you write to yourself on blogs and reviews. Maybe on your facebook wall as well.

Oh, 7500 reviews on eBay are a fact.

Whether you believe they are manually made or whether you believe people rush to leave them as soon as they place an order is a belief, and an easy to establish one at that, if you bother to read what are they saying.

But, as I said, when you get a few thousands of people testify about your qualities drop me a note and we can have laugh together.

The ownership of that building here is a fact too. The lack of any grocery stores or restaurants – other than the space I am leasing on Loopnet – is a fact too.

It’s all there, in the Dallas county records available online and other resources available online, which, much like the Sanyo board – you are just too lazy or simply unable to look up.

It doesn’t change the fact that they are facts and they are out there.

Again, whatever makes you happy :-)

It’s also a fact you have no idea how eBay feedbacks work. Anyone having over 1000 will testify to that. Anyone.

It’s a fact that you resort to offenses and claims you can’t prove. It’s debatable why you do it and I do not want to get into that. It seems to me it is more important to you to prove me wrong than it is to get something done – other than picking up TVs from the streets around, that one we established already.

While it is not presently a fact I would bet my month’s revenue you are NOT worth $131 an hour. I happen to have been worth that much for long enough to know how people at that level operate and behave.
At any rate ready to meet in court over that :-)

I myself am currently not earning $131 per hour for a number of reasons that, unlike you, am not going into “goddamn” details about. They are simply not relevant.

It’s also a fact you make false threats. You are not going to send any attorney and even if you do that will end up costing you and you know you can not afford that.

It’s, of course, a fact that I am married. Challenge it in court if you wish  :-)
Not enough facts?

Oh well…whatever makes you happy :-)

Wow, you have got to be out of your mind to talk to people the way you do. I am glad I read over your website before making my decision to allow you to do a repair for me.

@ John Crous - if reading this article keeps everyone thinking and talking like the person in it from ever contacting us it would be flat out priceless!

Thank you for reading it and thank you for making that decision!
